Atif Aslam and Abdullah Siddiqui make a powerful duo in PSL's anthem

Oct 21, 2023

Is there anything Atif Aslam CAN’T do? Probably not. He's the nation's favourite name for love ballads, as well as the perfect voice for spiritual, devotional music. Lately, he's been appealing to a younger audience where hip-hop is the prevailing genre. For instance, he showed us a sneak peak of his rap skills in the perfectly timed Cricket Khidaiye, alongside Faris Shafi and Talal Qureshi. The song was released right after Pakistan's glorious 10-wicket win against India in 2021's ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

He has now been seen in the newest PSL anthem, featuring Abdullah Siddiqui and Aima Baig as well. PSL anthems are always very heavily scrutinized every year. Since expectations are high from PSL, people expect the cricketing tournament to deliver a stellar track as well. Of course, sometimes the song is a hit, while on occasions it has been a miss also. Ali Zafar, Fawad Khan, Asim Azhar, Ali Azmat, Arif Lohar, Naseebo Laal and Young Stunners are just some of the names that have featured since the commencement of this league.

But Abdullah Siddiqui, one of the hottest names in music right now, is making sure the anthem kicks. Siddiqui isn't new to PSL – he made the 2021 anthem for Peshawar Zalmi. Titled Kingdom, the song was well received due to its starry presence (Mahira Khan, Hania Amir and Turkish star Esra Bilgic featured in the video) and the animation-heavy video, directed by budding director, Hassan Dawar.

The new PSL anthem, Agay Dekh has been produced and composed by Abdullah Siddiqui, and one can see that he has stayed true to his electronic sensibilities while ensuring that the song is majestic and grand, which is what an anthem must sound like when its blaring in the stadium.

Aima Baig does her best to deliver a strong performance but we must admit, Aima has been a recurring face for a lot of branded musical content lately and it's becoming a little repetitive.
